Training Your Dog To Be Well Behaved

Dog Training

Training Your Dog To Be Well Behaved.

The dog that you have just adopted may seem less like Lassie, and more like Cujo. You can tackle these behavior issues and train your dog to behave.

Remember to enjoy the time spent with your dog during training. When you play with your dog, you help make a stranger bond between the two of you. In return, he becomes more receptive to being trained. Training is fun for your dog, but it doesn't always have to be about learning something new. Play for the sake of playing.

Playing tug-of-war with your puppy makes training less effective. Tug-of-war, chasing games, and games that involve wrestling can all make the puppy think that biting human hands is acceptable. You don't want to set a bad example, so train your dog first before you start playing these kinds of games.

Keep your dog's wants and motivations in mind when training. You are finding out about your dog, including the things he does and does not like. It doesn't matter the reason you want to train your dog, you need to offer a variety of exercises along with positive reinforcement. You will find it much easier to train your dog if he is happy.

Make sure your dog knows right from wrong in all instances. This means to set firm rules for everyone to follow regarding your pet. It confuses the dog and sabotages your efforts.

To be the most successful in dog training, make sure your dog's need for exercise is being met before starting a new training project. Canines were meant to exercise regularly. They need to run and work in order to be healthy and happy. Do activities with your favorite four-legged friend, such as taking your dog running, playing fetch, or going to an agility class. Try not to let boredom set in with your dog by keeping him active as much as possible.

Introduce new animals to one another very slowly. Imagine the animal in your home already, before making the commitment to bringing another one home with you. In order to maximize bonding, a new pet will need a personality which complements the personality of the pet you already have.

If you are thinking about hiring a professional dog trainer, conduct a thorough interview and ask for referrals. There are a lot of different approaches taken by dog trainers concerning how to correctly train a dog. Understand the trainers philosophy so that you can be sure the trainers approach is similar with your own views of dog training.

Sometimes you may have to call upon a professional if you are not getting anywhere with your dog. If you are not seeing the kind of results you would like, it may be time to call in reinforcements. Your trainer will pinpoint the problem areas and point you in the right direction.

Many dog owners are surprised by the ease with which dog training can be integrated into their schedules. They are further amazed when they begin
to see great results in no time at all. Therefore, should you start to feel frustration with your dog, put some of the following advice to work.
